Presentation of cheques to 3 local Special Olympic host town committees, (proceeds of Ulster-Scots cookery demonstration).
Concert by Ulster-Scots folk orchestra in Clones attended by approx 400 people.
Scottish Highland dance classes in Monaghan and Cootehill. Twelve training sessions in both centres, average weekly attendance 30 children. Two refresher training days held in June (two girls have since entered competitions and one has gained a medal for fifth place in a competition in Belfast).
Music tuition provided for local musicians in Accordion, Bagpipes, Drum and Flute in four local venues over a three month period. Weekly attendance 45 – 65 people.
Assisted local groups with organising and advertising their own events. Five local “picnics, in particular, have benefitted from extra entertainment in the form of dancing displays, Scottish Country & Scottish Highland, a display by the Schomberg Fife and Drum Society and other professional musicians.
Lecture by Eugene Markey from Cavan museum on “The local history of the Loyal Orders� in an Orange hall near Cootehill.
Participated in a joint cultural tour of Dublin city.
Joint coach tour to the Boyne Valley with a group from Co. Down assisted by a local tour guide.
A group of mostly young people took an active part in the cultural pagaent in Kilkeel on 11th July.
A trip to Cavan County Museum in Ballyjamesduff with a group from Listullycurran, who added to the museums collection of banners, by donating one which had originated in Cavan.
Other events like lectures, concerts, table quiz, ten pin bowling, beetle drive, funding information night and various meetings to hear about the issues that the local people are concerned about. As well as the main purpose of these events, they are also about giving more opportunities to our community to socialise and express their cultural identiy in a friendly and, above all, safe environment.
