JOB DESCRIPTION FOR DEVELOPMENT OFFICER WITH THE BORDER MINORITY GROUP
 
 
Job Title:        Project Development Officer.
                       Responsible to the Committee of the Border Minority Group.
 
 
Main Responsibilities:
 
To assume responsibility for the delivery of the PEACE III action plans
"Building Capacity" and Crossing Borders".
To work closely with Protestant minority groups primarily in the geographical
area of county Monaghan.
 
 
The Job will require a strong managerial focus with the ability to initiate new ideas,
implement relevant training programmes, events management, mentoring and
assist in the development of project ideas.
 
Additionally, the Development Officer will have responsibility for:
 
·        Provision of relevant information to minority groups in the county.
·        Developing network structures between groups and cross community.
·        Liasing with range of agencies to put in place integrated programmes of development
     and co-operation.
·        Conducting research into relevant areas.
·        Fostering an understanding of diversity awareness amongst groups.
·        Drawing up action plans around obstacles currently facing the development of such groups.
·        Acting as an identifiable contact point for the Protestant minority community in County Monaghan.
·        Hosting seminars / workshops on variety of themes.
·        Reporting on a regular basis to the management committee.
·        Managing the timely and successful role out of the actions funded through the
     PEACE III programme.
·        Keeping records, recording progress and meeting the reporting requirements of the
     PEACE III partnership.
 
 
The Development Officer will be based in the offices of the Border Minority Group.
 
The job is a full time position and will involve unsociable working hours from time to time.
A contract will be issued to the successful candidate to the end of October 2013.
 
The post will involve a certain degree of travel; therefore applicants must be a car owner and
have a full driver’s license. A mileage allowance will be paid in respect of travel undertaken
during the course of work.
